The approval by the Cabinet of Bahrain of the proposal to establish a sister-city relationship between Larnaca and Manama, the capital of the Kingdom of Bahrain. As announced by the Mayor of Larnaca, Andreas Vyras, this is the first sister-city agreement between a Cypriot city and a city in the Gulf, opening up new prospects for cooperation in the economy, tourism, culture, and other sectors. According to the mayor, this development is part of Larnaca’s strategy of outreach and its effort to strengthen its position in the wider region.
The Mayor of Larnaca, Andreas Vyras, announced the development on Facebook, expressing his particular delight at the decision.
As he noted, Larnaca thus becomes the first city in Cyprus to establish a sister-city relationship with a city in the Gulf, creating, as he pointed out, new opportunities for cooperation in the fields of the economy, tourism, and culture, as well as in other areas.
Mr. Vyras emphasized that this development is part of the Municipality’s effort to invest in the city’s outreach, to build new bridges of cooperation, and to strengthen Larnaca’s position in the wider region.
“Larnaca and Manama are closer,” said the mayor, describing the twinning as “yet another important step for our city.”
