The figures for serious crime in Cyprus show a slight decrease compared to last year. The big picture, however, remains grim, with nearly 3,000 cases reported to the authorities during the first six months of the year. The clearance rate is approaching 80%.
On the one hand, financial crimes and fraud are on the rise; on the other, there has been a significant decrease in homicides, as shown by official police data. During the first half of the year, two such cases were recorded, compared to 13 recorded throughout all of last year.

At the same time, attempted murders totaled 11, compared to 26 in 2025.

Reports of rape remained close to last year’s levels, totaling 23, while in 2025 they totaled 42; the same is true for robberies and extortions, with 64 cases in the first half of the year.

The lowest clearance rates are recorded in cases of attempted destruction of property with explosives, as well as in arson cases.

Limassol leads in serious crime, with a total of 826 cases recorded during the first half of the year, followed by Nicosia with 691 and Larnaca with 542. Paphos is not far behind with 463 cases.
