Two individuals who had been in custody for the attempted arson of a forest areain Korno. The suspects are a 26-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman, who were arrested as part of the police investigation into the fire that broke out on August 2.
Today, the two were brought before the Larnaca District Court and committed for trial before the Larnaca Permanent Criminal Court.
The incident came to light on the evening of Sunday, August 2, around 7 p.m., when citizens driving on a road in the Kornos area noticed two individuals getting into a vehicle and driving away from the area.
At the same time, the citizens noticed that a fire had broken out in an adjacent forested area. Their immediate response proved crucial, as they managed to extinguish the fire before it could spread and grow larger.
As part of the investigation, the police secured witness testimony and subsequently obtained an arrest warrant against the 26-year-old, whom they arrested, on charges including conspiracy to commit a felony and attempted arson in a forest, as well as other offenses.
Subsequently, as part of the investigation, the 28-year-old woman was also arrested pursuant to a court warrant.
