The Department of Road Transport has issued a warning regarding vehicles whose use poses a risk of injury or fire.
According to information from the Consumer Protection Agency, during the 34th week of 2026, the TOM refers to five vehicles listed on the website of the EU’s rapid alert system for dangerous non-food products (Safety Gate).
According to this information, injuries may be caused by an Iveco truck and by an Audi Q3 passenger car manufactured between July 9, 2026, and July 15, 2026.
According to the warning, a fire may be caused by a Jeep Compass passenger car manufactured between March 4, 2026 – March 27, 2026, by a DS8 passenger car manufactured between March 6, 2026, and by a TEMSA HD12 bus, HD13, and Safir buses, manufactured between November 5, 2022, and September 30, 2025.
The TOM calls on manufacturers, dealers, manufacturer’s distributors, importers, and sellers (including those operating online or remotely) who may have placed or currently have such products on the market in the Republic of Cyprus to notify the Department of Road Transport accordingly.
It adds that, in the event that the products in question are available in the Republic of Cyprus, the aforementioned economic operators are required to take all necessary measures to ensure that these products are recalled as provided for in the relevant legislation.
It also urges consumers who own the aforementioned vehicles to contact the manufacturer or the manufacturer’s representative or distributor for instructions and, where appropriate, to stop using them and return them immediately to the point of purchase (if possible), informing the seller accordingly.
Please note that if the manufacturer, its authorized representative, a distributor of the manufacturer, importer, or seller refuses to honor the consumer’s rights described above, the consumer is encouraged to submit a written complaint to the Consumer Protection Service via the website www.consumer.gov.cy.
