LIST: TOM Warning Regarding Hazardous Vehicles, Risk of Fire and Injury

The Department of Road Transport is warning of the risk of injury or fire posed by certain vehicles, according to information it received from the Consumer Protection Agency, during the 25th and 26th weeks of 2026, regarding dangerous non-food products that were reported on the EU’s early warning system website (Safety Gate).

Specifically, the TOM warns of a fire hazard posed by the Eura Mobil Xtura motorhome (Jan. 22, 2024 – June 2, 2026), the Ligier Myli / JS50 (Oct. 2023 – June 2026), and the Nissan Qashqai passenger car (May 4, 2021 – Oct. 17, 2024).

In addition, it warns of a risk of injury from Skoda Fabia, Rapid, Yeti, Octavia, Superb, Citigo, Kodiaq, Roomster (May 23, 2016 – Dec. 7, 2017), the Honda Odyssey (April 1, 2017 – April 30, 2022), Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC (January 18, 2019 – August 25, 2021), the Renault Austral (March 23, 2023 – January 23, 2025), the BMW 1 Series (E82, E88) (May 8, 2007 – October 2, 2013), the Dacia DUSTER III, BIGSTER (January 9, 2026 – February 25, 2026), and the BMW 1 Series (E81; E82; E87; E88) – 3 Series (E90; E91; E92; E93) (January 2011 – June 2015), as well as the Ford Ranger (March 4, 2025 – February 12, 2026) and Mercedes-Benz UNIMOG 405, UNIMOG 437 (October 31, 2025 – December 18, 2025).

A warning regarding the risk of injury has also been issued for the Yokohama 126S 385/55R22.5 158L tire (January 1, 2023 – October 1, 2025), as well as the Aguti ISOFIX child restraint system (August 29, 2017 – April 27, 2026).

More details about the hazardous products can be found on Safety Gate at https://ec.europa.eu/safety-gate-alerts/screen/search, using each product’s alert number.

The Department urges manufacturers, authorized representatives, manufacturers’ distributors, importers, and sellers (including those operating online or remotely) who may have placed or are placing such products on the market in the Republic of Cyprus to notify the Department of Road Transport accordingly.

Please note that, if the products in question are available in the Republic of Cyprus, the above-mentioned economic operators are required to take all necessary measures to ensure that these products are recalled as provided for in the relevant legislation.

The Department also urges consumers who own the above-mentioned vehicles to contact the manufacturer, its authorized representative, or distributor for instructions. Ownership of the above vehicles is also verified based on the vehicle registration certificate (title) and the information contained therein (e.g., production range, type/model number).

With regard to accessories, where deemed appropriate, the TOM urges consumers to stop using them and return them immediately to the place of purchase (if possible), informing the seller accordingly.

In the event that a manufacturer, authorized representative, distributor of the manufacturer, importer, or seller refuses to honor the consumer’s rights described above, the consumer is urged to submit a written complaint to the Consumer Protection Service via the website www.consumer.gov.cy.
