The Anti-Corruption Authority’s findings on the “Mafia State” have become a bone of contention, with the camps of Nikos Anastasiadis and Makarios Drousiotis vying for full access to its contents, in order to prepare their defense strategy ahead of the legal battles they will be called upon to fight.
As “Fileleftheros” revealed today, the law firm of Nikos Anastasiadis filed a lawsuit in court against the Anti-Corruption Authority and its President, Haris Poyatzis, seeking, through the issuance of relevant orders, the handover of the report.
Yesterday, the Attorney General rejected a request by Makarios Drousiotis’s attorney, Litos Kariolou, for access to the findings.
“The material that emerged during the Authority’s investigation into Makarios Drousiotis’s revelations regarding the Focus case pertains to the substantive validity of the allegations contained in the messages in question.”

Drousiotis’s defense team is expected to raise pretrial motions, arguing that the Sandy case should have been tried in District Court and that the Attorney General’s instructions to refer it to the Criminal Court were motivated by a desire for revenge as it entails the imposition of harsher penalties, because she dared to expose cases of corruption involving the “State Mafia.”
Drousiotis faces 73 charges. 28 for publishing false news and 27 for circulating a forged document, in which he is accused of intent—that is, of publishing the messages while knowing they were forged.
“On March 30, 2026, acting with intent and knowing it was forged, he circulated a document on social media and the internet with the subject line ‘Pedophilia, asset sales, surveillance, and show trials—The dark side of the rule of law in Cyprus.’”
The 45-year-old Kyriaki Kyriakou, also known as Sandy, faces 28 additional charges. Eleven of these relate to the fabrication of false messages.
Any day now, the calling of witnesses is expected to begin at Filoxenia, where the five independent criminal investigators led by Vasileios Skouris, who have taken over the criminal investigation into the “State Mafia,” with the assistance of a seven-member investigative team from the Central Criminal Investigation Division (TAE) Headquarters. Their work began on Monday with the establishment of a schedule for taking testimony.
