The fire that broke out near the Ergaton industrial area is still raging, and vehicles and buildings have been damaged by the flames.
According to the latest update from the Fire Department’s press officer, four firefighting aircraft and a large ground crew are currently operating at the scene.
Specifically, eight fully staffed fire trucks are participating in the operation, three from the Forestry Department, along with forces from the Game and Wildlife Service, the District Administration, and organized volunteer groups.
“The fire is burning dry grass, wild vegetation, and olive trees. A number of abandoned old vehicles and structures have been affected,” adds Mr. Kettis.
A precise assessment will be made once the fire has been completely extinguished.
