The police maintained a strong presence and carried out intensive operations throughout Cyprus last night, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and enhancing the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive police operations, 10 individuals were arrested for offenses such as illegal possession of property, illegal residence, failure to appear in court, assault on a police officer, illegal possession of drugs, carrying a knife, etc.
As part of these operations, 573 drivers and 143 passengers were stopped and checked overnight. At the same time, 37 property inspections were carried out to address illegal activities, resulting in six complaints.
During the traffic checks that were carried out, 283 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and three cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Among the citations issued, 93 were for drivers exceeding the speed limit, and as part of police investigations, 6 vehicles were impounded.
A total of 91 breathalyzer tests were conducted, resulting in two citations, while two drivers tested positive in preliminary drug tests.
Law enforcement operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, with an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
