There was a strong police presence and activity throughout Cyprus last night, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and enhancing the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive police operations, ten individuals were arrested for offenses including illegal drug possession, impersonation, public intoxication, disturbing the peace, failure to appear in court, and other offenses.
As part of these operations, 505 vehicles were stopped for inspection overnight, and 646 individuals traveling in them were checked. At the same time, 45 inspections were carried out at premises to address violations, resulting in three complaints.
During the traffic checks that were carried out, 295 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and ten cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Of the citations issued, 108 were for speeding, and as part of the police investigations, eight vehicles were impounded. In addition, 170 breathalyzer tests were conducted, resulting in five citations, as well as four preliminary drug tests, all of which came back negative.
Law enforcement operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, with an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
