The police maintained a strong presence and carried out intensive operations throughout Cyprus last night, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and enhancing the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive police operations, three individuals were arrested for offenses such as possession of burglary tools, illegal residence in the Republic of Cyprus, and driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
As part of these operations, 576 drivers and 179 passengers were stopped and checked overnight. At the same time, 35 premises were inspected to address violations, resulting in five complaints.
During the traffic checks that were carried out, 262 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and 7 cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Among the citations issued, 87 were for drivers exceeding the speed limit, and 14 vehicles were impounded as part of police investigations.
A total of 118 breathalyzer tests were conducted, resulting in 12 citations.
Law enforcement operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, with an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
