Under the patronage of the President of the Republic, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, the 22nd “Pink Figures” Walk organized by Europa Donna Cyprus—the largest event in support of breast cancer awareness—was held with great success on Saturday, October 3, the 22nd Europa Donna Cyprus Pink Figures Walk, the largest event in support of people living with breast and gynecological cancers.

The Walk was warmly embraced by thousands of citizens, including political leaders, who walked together and joined their voices, to highlight all that has been achieved and to advocate for everything that needs to be done regarding awareness, prevention, early diagnosis, and specialized care for breast cancer.

In her remarks, the Chair of the Board of Directors of Europa Donna Cyprus, Ms. Olga Papadimou, said: “I stand here as a woman who was diagnosed with ‘breast cancer’ at a very young age, around 27. I had a daughter who was just over a year old at the time. I remember my mind immediately racing to my daughter. To the life I wanted to live. To the moments when I feared I might not make it in time. And yet, today I am here with you; we are all here together.

We’re walking together again this year, because awareness saves lives. Because prevention is powerful. Because early diagnosis saves lives. We’re demanding specialized, high-quality care for everyone. We demand independent accreditation for the Ministry of Health’s population screening program. We are calling for specialized treatment of gynecological cancers. We are calling for uniform national guidelines.

As Ms. Militsa Drakou, Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of Alpha Bank Cyprus, emphasized in her opening remarks: “The power of the Walk lies in the fact that it transforms a deeply personal issue into our collective responsibility as a society. Behind every Pink Figure is a real woman, surrounded by people who can offer her knowledge, care, and strength. For Alpha Bank Cyprus, standing alongside Europa Donna as a Strategic Partner for the second consecutive year means that we are continuing a relationship in which we truly believe. And the presence of our people at today’s Walk is perhaps the most meaningful expression of that relationship.”

Participants walked while holding figures symbolizing the projected number of new cases of breast and gynecological cancers by 2025. Specifically, 840 pink figures for new cases of breast cancer in women, 6 blue figures for new cases of breast cancer in men, 220 turquoise figures representing new cases of gynecological cancer, and 299 white figures symbolizing the people we have sadly lost by 2025.

The starting point for this year’s march was the Old GSP Stadium. From there, the march proceeded to the headquarters of Alpha Bank Cyprus on Spyrou Kyprianou Street, as the Bank stands alongside Europa Donna Cyprus once again this year as a Strategic Partner of the March.
