The details behind the unimaginable tragedy at a hotel in Paphos, where a three-year-old boy lost his life, are shocking.
The 37-year-old father of the unfortunate child was arrested on Sunday night —as the tragedy occurred while the child was under his supervision—and was brought before a court this morning, where an eight-day detention order was issued against him.
It should be noted that the British tourist family was in Cyprus on vacation, which, however, ended in tragedy… The three-year-old boy, under circumstances that are under investigation, fell from the fourth floor of the hotel in Paphos where he was staying with his parents and landed on the first floor, sustaining fatal injuries.

According to what Alpha’s correspondent in Paphos, Kostas Nanos, and based on what was heard in the testimonies before the investigators, the father appears to have been playing with the three-year-old boy before the fatal incident.
“They had left the room a little earlier with the grandfather; they had called the elevator and were getting ready to go down to the restaurant for dinner. While they were waiting in the hallway, the father was holding the child in his arms and playing with him, making the familiar “airplane” gesture. He did not notice that the window next to them was open, with the result that the child slipped out under unclear circumstances and fell to his death.”
It should be noted that the tragedy unfolded right before the eyes of the child’s grandfather, and the police are continuing to take statements.
