"One-sided and misleading": How the IVF clinic in the occupied territories responds to the BBC investigation

He speaks of accusations without evidence and disregard for official documents
ALPHANEWSLIVE

Incomplete, one-sided, and misleading—that is how the Miracle In Vitro Fertilization Center in the occupied territories characterizes the BBC’s report on the process of conceiving children using a sperm or egg donor other than the one chosen by the parents, and in which the center and Dr. Firdevs Uğuz Tip are mentioned.

As reported from the occupied territories, in a statement issued today, the center in question refers to the report published the day before yesterday—the result of a BBC investigation — and argues that the principles of press freedom and the public interest cannot justify the publication of unsubstantiated allegations and the disregard of official documents.

The Miracle Center states that, to date, no specific documents, patient records, or valid patient authorizations proving personal or institutional liability on the part of the center or Dr. Tip, while it considers that the results of the inspections conducted by the “Ministry of Health” of the pseudo-state at the center were not adequately publicized, nor were “Dr. Tip’s comprehensive and documented explanations, which were limited to a brief denial.” It also refers to a letter from the “Ministry of Health” dated July 23, 2026, which indicates that the Doğuş IVF center and the Miracle center do not belong to the same legal and institutional entity.

According to the statement, Dr. Tip worked at the Doğuş Center between 2009 and 2015 exclusively as an obstetrician-gynecologist. The doctor joined the Miracle Center as the head of the IVF department after the center began operations on April 18, 2019, having secured a “license” from the pseudo-state.

For this reason, she believes that the references in the BBC investigation to the period from 2011 to 2015—when Miracle was not in operation—do not correspond to reality.

The statement notes that due to the presentation of unverified claims, the misrepresentation of events prior to 2019 at the Miracle center, and the disregard for “official” documents, the foundation and Dr. Tip reserve the right to pursue all necessary “legal and administrative avenues to protect their personal rights and their professional and commercial reputation.”

The first party to issue a statement on the matter was the Community Justice Party. In its statement today, the party’s health bureau questions whether the “government” will now attribute this to an “attempt to create a sensation.”

It notes that these are new allegations by the BBC and calls on the “health minister” to disclose the results of the investigation he conducted into in vitro fertilization centers. If the allegations are true—that DNA testing revealed the donors were different from those selected by the parents based on the medical history provided by the center— then this cannot be considered a mere medical error.

The KKD Health Committee states that the use of reproductive cells from another person instead of a donor whom an individual believes they have selected with their explicit consent can have extremely serious consequences regarding patient consent, medical safety, the traceability of genetic and health history, and the child’s rights regarding their biological origins.

It further notes that the field of in vitro fertilization is a critical area of health care, but allegations against certain centers or individuals should not cast suspicion on the entire health sector.
