Following the difficulties that the new social security payment procedure appears to have caused, the Ministry of Labor
The inconvenience caused by the changes to the social security contribution payment process has prompted the Ministry of Labor to extend the adjustment period.
Since early August, access to the online payment system has been via CY Login, causing difficulties mainly for older adults who employ domestic workers. To facilitate the transition, those affected have been given the option to continue paying their contributions at the District Office Funds until September 30. This deadline will be extended until the end of October, as announced by Marinos Mousiouttas.
“We’ve put ourselves in people’s shoes, which is why we granted a first and second extension.” Marinos Mousiouttas, Minister of Labor
Digital Services
The Minister of Labor and the Deputy Minister of Innovation today presented the new Social Security Digital Services that have gone live. These services cover paternity and maternity benefits, the childbirth allowance, the parental leave allowance, and the funeral allowance.
A central feature of this new digital era is the Insured Person’s Profile, through which citizens can access all information relevant to them.
“The transition to the new digital environment of the Social Security Services will bring multiple benefits. It will drastically reduce bureaucracy, require fewer supporting documents, and minimize the need for citizens to travel.” Marinos Mousiouttas, Minister of Labor
Thanks to the new system, the processing time for applications for various benefits has been reduced by 30–70%.
“For example, for the Maternity Benefit, the median processing time has been reduced from 12 to 6 days.” Nikodimos Damianou, Deputy Minister of Innovation
New services are expected to be gradually added to the new system, which will serve as a key support mechanism for implementing pension reform.
