The unfortunate mother had gone to the beach with her husband and their three young children—two daughters and a son. An eyewitness who was on the beach told Alpha that “it was the mom, the two daughters, and a little boy. She went swimming; the little boy—he’s 9 years old—managed to make it, but I don’t know exactly where. The boy made it out, swam to shore, and came up on the beach shouting ‘Help! Help!’ They drowned—I know—and they went back in and brought them out.”
The two little girls were initially taken to Larnaca General Hospital; however, due to the seriousness of their condition, they were transferred to Makarios Hospital.
The 12-year-old remains intubated in the ICU, and her condition is described by the attending physicians as stable. As for the 14-year-old, she is out of danger and has been transferred to the hospital’s pediatric ward.
