The Health Insurance Organization (OAY) and the Cyprus Police, as incidents continue to be reported of false and malicious SMS messages being sent that appear to be from GeSY.
In a joint statement, the OAY and the Police are urging the public to be particularly cautious and to immediately delete messages of this type without opening any links contained within them.
As noted, these deceptive text messages use the name “GESY” or other names that refer to healthcare providers, with the aim of creating the impression that they originate from GESY.
In fact, these messages may even appear below legitimate messages previously sent by GESY to beneficiaries, which could mislead citizens.
The OAU emphasizes that it will never request, via SMS, passwords, login credentials, payment information, or other personal data from beneficiaries.
At the same time, it is clarified that the OAU will not ask citizens to carry out any financial transactions via links included in text messages.
The OAY and the Police urge citizens, should they receive such a message, not to open the link and to delete the SMS immediately.
