Police arrested a 31-year-old man yesterday to facilitate the investigation into an ongoing case involving the illegal possession of explosives and property.
During a search conducted yesterday at the 31-year-old’s residence, vehicle, and shipping container, pursuant to court warrants, a hand grenade—which at first glance appears to be a training grenade—electronic devices, various power tools, and a small amount of cannabis, resulting in his arrest for offenses committed in flagrante delicto.
Subsequently, an arrest warrant was issued against him, pursuant to which he was arrested and taken into custody to facilitate the investigation.
The 31-year-old is expected to appear today before the Famagusta District Court for a pretrial detention hearing.
The CID and the Famagusta Drug Enforcement Unit are continuing their investigation.
