There was a strong police presence and activity last night throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and enhancing the public’s sense of security.
These preventive police operations resulted in the arrest of ten individuals for offenses such as vehicle theft, receiving stolen property, theft, traffic violations, and others.
As part of these operations, 596 vehicles were stopped for inspection overnight, and 901 individuals traveling in them were checked. At the same time, 47 inspections were carried out at premises to address illegal activities, resulting in seven complaints.
During the traffic checks that were carried out, 363 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and ten cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Of the citations issued, 157 were for speeding, and as part of the police investigations, eight vehicles were impounded. In addition, 233 breathalyzer tests were conducted, resulting in 15 citations, as well as five preliminary drug tests, with two positive results.
Law enforcement operations, aimed at crime prevention and suppression, continue daily, with an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
