For the first time, Cypriots had the opportunity to admire Cyprus’s “Iron Dome” up close.
This is the BARAK MX air defense system, the National Guard’s newest acquisition and pride and joy, which was unveiled during the grand military parade on October 1.

The BARAK-MX medium- and long-range air defense system was added to the arsenal of the National Guard’s Air Force Command in 2025, enhancing its air defense capabilities.
This “steel dome” of protection is one of the most advanced weapon systems in the National Guard’s arsenal, significantly strengthening the Republic of Cyprus’s anti-aircraft and anti-missile defenses at a time when instability in the Middle East is increasing risks in the wider region.
