Yesterday, Sunday, the Fire Department carried out a rescue operation to free a person from a motor vehicle in the Nicosia District.
According to a statement released today by the Fire Department, at 7:10 a.m. yesterday, a call was received to extricate a person from a motor vehicle that had fallen into a ditch on the road from Apliki – Paleochori Road, in the Nicosia District.
The Akropolis Fire Station (led by Sergeant Spyros Ttantis) and the Paleochori Rural Fire Station responded to the incident with a vehicle and a rescue team, as well as a fire truck. One person was extricated from the vehicle and, after being placed on a rescue stretcher, was transported by ambulance to the Emergency Department of Nicosia General Hospital.
Furthermore, over the three-day period from 6:00 a.m. on September 25, 2026, through 6:00 a.m. on September 28, 2026, responded to 101 calls for assistance (48 fires, 44 special services, and nine false alarms), while from 6:00 a.m. on September 27, 2026, through 6:00 a.m. on September 28, 2026, it responded to 28 calls for assistance (12 fires, 14 special operations, and two false alarms).
