Two individuals were arrested by police officers as part of an investigation into cases of driving under the influence of alcohol, causing a traffic accident, speeding, as well as assaulting a police officer, drunkenness, disorderly conduct, and public insult.
The first incident occurred shortly after midnight in a village in the Paphos District where, under circumstances currently being investigated by the police, a 38-year-old driver crashed into a stone wall surrounding a residence.
Police officers arrived at the scene and located the 38-year-old, who was intoxicated, shouting, and causing a disturbance. Subsequently, after being asked to present his identification and vehicle registration, he reacted by pushing a police officer with his hands, resulting in his arrest for offenses committed in the act.
The 38-year-old was also tested for driving under the influence of alcohol, with a reading of 100 μg instead of 22 μg, which is the maximum limit permitted by law. He was taken into custody pending police investigation.
The Stroumbi Police Station is investigating the case.
