The preliminary investigation into the case involving the former president of EDEK, Marinos Sizopoulos, has been completed, and the case file is expected to be forwarded to the Legal Service in the coming days, after it has been reviewed by the Police Legal Department, Police spokesperson Byron Vyronos told CNA.
When asked what stage the investigation into the case is at, Mr. Vyronos said that “the preliminary investigation has been completed,” noting that “it will now be reviewed by the Police Legal Department and then forwarded to the Legal Service for review and guidance in the coming days.”
When asked whether the police report includes specific recommendations regarding possible criminal offenses, Mr. Vyronos limited himself to stating that “the case file will be reviewed by the Legal Service.”
When asked about the number of statements taken as part of the investigation, the police spokesperson stated that “all individuals named in the case were summoned.”
When asked, furthermore, whether any examinations or expert assessments had been conducted regarding the alleged forgery of a signature, Mr. Vyronos said he could not comment on that specific issue, adding that he believes “all necessary steps have been taken to investigate the case.”
The case has been under police investigation since 2025 and concerns findings included in the report by inspectors of the Independent Anti-Corruption Authority, which was made public in September of that year.
The report documented, among other things, evidence of possible criminal offenses related to a share sale agreement involving TAXAN Properties, and also referred to an alleged forgery of a signature on a related document.
A related report on the case is published in today’s edition of Fileleftheros.
