There was a strong police presence and activity last night throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, with the aim of preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and increasing the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive policing operations, four individuals were arrested for various offenses, including drug possession, illegal residence in the Republic, as well as outstanding court-ordered fines.
As part of these operations, 464 vehicles were stopped for inspection overnight, and 633 individuals traveling in them were checked. At the same time, 41 property inspections were conducted to address violations, resulting in four complaints.
During the traffic checks that were carried out, 227 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and 13 cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation. As part of the police investigations, ten vehicles were impounded.
Of the complaints filed for traffic violations, 62 concerned speeding. Two reports were filed for driving under the influence of alcohol, while one case of driving under the influence of drugs was identified following a preliminary drug test. A total of 206 drivers were tested for driving under the influence of alcohol, while one driver was tested for driving under the influence of drugs.
Law enforcement operations, aimed at crime prevention and suppression, continue daily, with an enhanced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of protecting citizens and ensuring public order.
