A group of foreigners beat up a 47-year-old Turkish Cypriot in Ayia Napa; additional testimonies have been given to the authorities

A 47-year-old Turkish Cypriot was reportedly attacked by a group of foreigners in Ayia Napa.

According to a police statement, the Famagusta CID has obtained additional witness statements, according to which the 47-year-old was allegedly attacked by a group of foreigners, possibly of Asian descent, with investigations continuing to locate and identify them.

It is recalled that the 47-year-old was found injured on a street in Ayia Napa around 6:00 a.m. by police officers who rushed to the scene after receiving a tip.

He was then transported to the Famagusta General Hospital, where he was diagnosed with a cerebral hemorrhage and a skull base fracture. Due to the severity of his condition, he was intubated and transferred to Nicosia General Hospital, where he was admitted for treatment. His condition is considered by his attending physicians to be serious but stable.

The Famagusta CID is continuing its intensive investigation into the case.

The brutal attack prompted a public statement from Tufan Erhurman.

“As soon as they were informed of the incident, the ‘Presidency’ and the Turkish Cypriot member of the Bi-communal Technical Committee contacted the family and the relevant authorities, while the ‘General Police Directorate’ also took action.“We are closely monitoring both the condition of our injured fellow citizen and the legal developments related to the incident,” the Turkish Cypriot leader stated in a post.
