All possibilities remain open regarding the bomb that exploded at a residence in Sotira, with authorities trying to determine whether it was a bomb attack or whether the 30-year-old man himself was making the bomb.
The explosion occurred around 9:20 p.m. on Friday in a storage room/garage of the home where the 30-year-old man lived.
Speaking on the “Alpha News” program, Police Spokesperson Byron Vyronos noted that the 30-year-old is being treated, intubated and sedated, in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital, and his condition continues to be considered critical.
It should be noted that, according to reports, the young man’s arm was amputated as a result of the explosion, and he underwent surgery to stabilize his condition and save his lower limb.

Investigations are ongoing, as noted by Mr. Vyronos, with the explosion believed to have been caused by a low-power improvised explosive device.
Evidence was collected from the scene, and “all possible scenarios are being investigated,” as Mr. Vyronos emphasized.
When asked whether the authorities were leaning toward either of the two scenarios, Mr. Vyronos stated that he would not comment or draw any conclusions.
