Panikos Chrysanthou has been transporting PASYKAF patients here for years…
Behind the wheel, not only as a driver but above all as a person who stands by the patients’ side as he transports them from Paphos and Limassol to Nicosia to receive their treatments.
“We do our best for the patient; that is our priority. With your help, we’ve managed to register the Association’s buses as ambulances. This allows us to use the bus lane to reduce our travel time to the oncology center.”

For years now, Mr. Panikos has been waking up at 5:30 a.m., driven by hope for people fighting for their lives. About two hours later, he arrives in Nicosia with patients from Paphos and Limassol who are coming for radiation therapy and chemotherapy.
Upon returning to the Oncology Center, Mr. Panikos prepares the patient transport bus for the return trip to Paphos, waiting for them to finish their treatment.
October, after all, is PASYKAF’s month for raising awareness and securing financial support. The central theme of this year’s campaign is the message: “On the cancer journey, ‘here’ means something different for everyone.” “Here” first and foremost signifies PASYKAF’s 40 years of presence and service. “Here” can mean home care, physical therapy, transportation to treatment, pain relief, psychosocial support, or simply a presence, security, dignity, and hope.
For each person, “here” means something different; however, PASYKAF must continue to be here—all the more so to meet the growing needs for home care, physical therapy, transportation to treatment, pain relief, and psychosocial support—it needs all of us. In the studio of the “Alpha News” program were PASYKAF’s Deputy Executive Director and Head of Resource Development, Sofi Christoforou, and palliative care physician Katerina Georgiadis.
