From August 24 through 30, 2026, a Cyprus-wide awareness and enforcement campaign was conducted, featuring traffic stops aimed at combating distracted driving, including the use of a cell phone or other objects while driving.
During the campaign, a total of 550 citations were issued as a result of the island-wide traffic stops, of which 520 involved the use of a cell phone while driving and 30 involved the use of another object while driving.
