Today, around 11:30 a.m., lifeguards Raphael Kyriakou and Anthony Torres were called to rescue two young children at Arapi Beach in Pegeia.
The two children were in the water in an inflatable boat when strong winds swept them out to sea, causing them to end up outside the marked swimming area and some distance from the shore.
According to a related post, thanks to the timely detection and immediate intervention of the two lifeguards, the children were safely brought back to shore.
As noted, the incident takes on even greater significance due to the intense and unusual weather conditions currently prevailing in Cyprus—with strong winds and sudden changes in the weather—which are atypical for this time of year.
On days like these, extra caution is needed at sea, and even more so when it comes to children and inflatable devices, which can be swept several meters away from the shore in a matter of moments.
