Eleven thousand volts coursed through the body of the unfortunate worker who lost his life on Saturday in Pegeia while working on a building under construction. The victim was Konstantinos Posnagkof, 52, from Georgia.
The fatal workplace accident occurred around 2:30 p.m. at the construction site, where concrete was being poured, when, due to improper operation of the concrete pump, two overhead power lines were severed and struck the worker.
An ambulance was called to the scene and transported the 52-year-old to Paphos General Hospital, but despite the doctors’ efforts, he died.
Following the tragic incident, police arrested the 46-year-old construction contractor and the 53-year-old operator of the concrete pump.
The police, in cooperation with the Labor Inspection Department, are investigating the case as a death caused by a reckless, negligent, or dangerous act.
