Overnight, police officers arrested five suspects in connection with various offenses as part of targeted preventive policing operations.
According to a police statement released today, there was a strong police presence and activity throughout Cyprus last night, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, with the aim of preventing serious criminal acts, ensuring public order, and increasing the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive policing operations, five individuals were arrested on suspicion of various offenses, including carrying a knife, making threats, drunkenness, disturbing the peace, and obtaining goods under false pretenses.
In addition, 473 vehicles were stopped for inspection during the night, and 638 drivers and passengers were checked. At the same time, 45 premises were inspected, resulting in 7 complaints.
During traffic stops, 253 citations were issued for various traffic violations, 105 of which were for speeding. A total of 78 breathalyzer tests were administered, with seven positive results, as well as one preliminary drug test that yielded a positive result. In addition, seven vehicles were impounded as part of the police operations.
According to the announcement, policing operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, with an increased police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of protecting citizens and ensuring public order.
