Last night, the police arrested a 26-year-old man to facilitate the investigation into an ongoing case involving speeding, and other traffic offenses.
Specifically, around 10:30 p.m. last night, while members of the Traffic Police Headquarters (Avdimou Unit) were conducting a speed check on the Limassol – Paphos highway, they spotted a car traveling at 161 km/h instead of 100 km/h, which is the legal speed limit.
The driver was signaled to stop, but he continued driving. Police officers pursued the vehicle, which was being driven recklessly and dangerously, failing to stop despite repeated signals from the officers.

At some point along the road, after the driver entered the old Paphos–Limassol highway, he was stopped. The subsequent check revealed that the driver was a 26-year-old man who was operating the vehicle without a driver’s license or insurance certificate.
The 26-year-old was arrested for the offenses he committed on the spot and taken into custody; he tested negative for both alcohol and drugs.
The Kouklia Police Station is continuing its investigation.
