A vehicle parked outside a car rental company’s office in the Amathountas area was destroyed by fire.
The fire was reported around 11 p.m., and firefighters immediately responded to the scene, where they extinguished the blaze.
The vehicle sustained extensive damage.
An on-site investigation determined that the fire in the vehicle, which belongs to the car rental company, was set maliciously.
The scene remained cordoned off, and at first light, members of the Limassol CID and the fire department returned to the scene to gather further evidence.
Closed-circuit surveillance footage installed at the scene and in the surrounding area is also expected to be reviewed to determine whether it captured any suspicious activity.
The owner is once again the target
According to information obtained by Alpha, the office belongs to a 50-year-old former police officer who has been the target of malicious acts in the past.
According to the same sources, he is expected to give a statement as soon as he returns from abroad.
