A quantity of cannabis, with a total gross weight of approximately two kilograms, was discovered and seized yesterday, as part of the Drug Enforcement Agency’s efforts to locate and seize illicit drugs being imported into and distributed in Cyprus.
After evaluating a tip, members of the Narcotics Control Service went to a courier company in Nicosia, where a package had arrived from abroad containing a quantity of cannabis with a total gross weight of approximately two kilograms.

A 20-year-old man presented himself to pick up the package and was arrested on the spot for offenses committed in flagrante delicto. During a subsequent body search, a quantity of cannabis weighing approximately two grams was found in his possession.
The 20-year-old is expected to appear today before the Nicosia District Court, where a request for his detention is expected to be made.
The Drug Enforcement Agency (Nicosia Unit) is continuing its investigation.
