A barometric low centered south of Crete is moving northeast and is expected to affect the island starting tomorrow afternoon. There may be some fine dust suspended in the air.
This afternoon, in most parts of the island, the weather will be mostly clear with periods of increased cloud cover; however, clouds developing in the mountains and possibly in inland areas are expected to bring isolated showers or even an isolated thunderstorm. Winds will be mainly southwesterly to northwesterly, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort, and at times along the southwestern coast, up to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will be generally calm to slightly rough.
Tonight, the weather will initially be mostly clear, but cloud cover will gradually increase. Winds will gradually become downslope, light, 3 Beaufort, and the sea will remain calm to slightly choppy. Temperatures will drop to around 19 degrees inland, around 22 degrees along the coast, and around 18 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.
Tomorrow, the weather will be generally partly cloudy and at times mostly cloudy, while around midday and afterward, clouds will build up, bringing isolated showers and isolated thunderstorms, mainly in the mountains, inland, and in northern areas. Hail is possible during thunderstorms. In the evening, the weather is expected to worsen with local showers and isolated thunderstorms, particularly in the western half of the island. Winds in the morning will be variable, light, 3 Beaufort, gradually shifting to mainly southwesterly to northwesterly, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort. During a storm, however, the winds will strengthen and become variable. The sea will be generally calm to slightly rough. Temperatures will reach around 34 degrees inland, around 30 on the western coast, around 32 along the rest of the coast, and around 26 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.
On Friday, the weather will be mostly cloudy, with occasional local showers and isolated thunderstorms expected. Hail is expected during thunderstorms, and winds are expected to pick up and shift direction.
On Saturday and Sunday, the weather in most parts of the island will be mostly clear with temporarily increased cloud cover; however, starting around noon and continuing into the afternoon in the mountains and inland areas, developing clouds are expected to bring isolated showers or even thunderstorms.
Temperatures on Friday will drop, falling below seasonal averages, however, by Sunday they will gradually rise, returning to levels close to the seasonal average.
