A criminal case has been filed against the heartbroken father who lost his three-year-old son following a tragic accident in Paphos.

The Attorney General, after reviewing and evaluating all the evidence gathered during the police investigation into the death of the three-year-old boy, has issued instructions to prosecute the 37-year-old father.

According to the police, the charges relate to the offense of causing death due to a reckless, careless, or dangerous act, in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Penal Code.

The 37-year-old is expected to appear before the Paphos District Court on Tuesday, where the case will be filed. At the same time, the prosecution will request the imposition of strict conditions of release, with the aim of ensuring the defendant’s presence at all future court hearings.

The father’s detention order expires today. As reported on the “Alpha Summer” program by the station’s correspondent in Paphos, Kostas Nanos, the reason for the delay in decisions by the legal department was due to the fact that the results of the toxicology tests had not yet been received, contrary to what the police had inadvertently stated in recent days. The results were received today, and the Attorney General’s Office decided to proceed with criminal charges against the father.

It should be recalled that the tragic accident occurred on July 12 at a hotel in Paphos when, while playing, the baby slipped from his father’s arms and fell from the third floor of the hotel where the family was staying while on vacation in our country.
