*Press Release
The Police, in cooperation with the National Guard, is warning the public not to enter firing ranges and other military areas where access is prohibited, both during military exercises and firing drills and after they have concluded.
It is particularly emphasized that under no circumstances should anyone attempt to enter firing ranges for the purpose of collecting shell casings or other military equipment.
Equipment belonging to the National Guard or the Republic of Cyprus cannot be considered abandoned or free for collection simply because it is located within a firing range. The National Guard Law explicitly recognizes that weapons, ammunition, and other military equipment issued by the Force are the property of the Republic.
The public is urged to:
• Not to enter firing ranges when entry is prohibited.
• Not to touch or move any suspicious object or military equipment.
• Not to collect shell casings or other material from military areas.
• To comply with existing signage and the instructions of the competent authorities.
• If a suspicious object is found, notify the competent authorities without attempting to touch or move it.
Do not risk your life or physical safety by collecting objects from a shooting range.
Shooting ranges are not recreational areas or places to collect materials.
We respect the prohibitions. We do not touch military equipment. We protect our lives.
