While the 46-year-old woman remains hospitalized in critical condition at a private hospital in Limassol, detectives from the Limassol CID are digging deep, aiming to reach definitive conclusions about the circumstances that led to the tragedy.
Investigators from the Limassol CID are evaluating new evidence, including—among other things—statements from the couple’s professional, family, and social circles.
“The case is under a full and thorough criminal investigation. Any public statement regarding the facts of the case (…) would be premature and could influence the investigation.” Police
Financial problems?
The focus is on the 55-year-old’s background and the financial problems he appears to have faced.
According to statements from police officers who served with the 55-year-old, in recent times—while he continued to be sociable and professional in his work duties —he had admitted to his coworkers that he was working a second job because he wanted to supplement his income.
Confirmed reports even indicate that a senior officer in the department issued recommendations after it became known that the 55-year-old had borrowed money from his colleagues.
“It was pointed out to him that he could take on more overtime shifts to supplement his income.” Information from “Fileleftheros”
The investigations, of course, do not concern only bank deposits, but also potential findings that may emerge from the examination of cell phones and bank accounts belonging to both the 46-year-old woman and the 55-year-old man.
Police Statement
Amid the investigations, the Police issued a statement to clarify that it does not leave issues concerning the mental health and well-being of its members to chance.
“The police have an institutionalized Human Resources Support Division, staffed by licensed psychologists, which provides psychological support, implements prevention and training programs, and, where the conditions set forth in the applicable legal framework are met, the prescribed procedures are activated.” Police
Procedures, according to the Police, aimed at protecting both members of the force and third parties.
