His friends and teammates at THOI Lakatamia, as well as the APOEL fans he supported, bid a heartbreaking farewell to 16-year-old Aris-Lambros Papacharalambous, the young man who ultimately lost his battle for life last night after 1.5 months in the hospital following his serious injury in a traffic accident.

Let us recall that the serious traffic accident occurred in the early hours of August 7, 2026, in Aglantzia, Nicosia, resulting in critical injuries to the 16-year-old.
Specifically, a 27-year-old drunk driver struck the 16-year-old and fled the scene, but was located shortly afterward by the police. He was given a breathalyzer test, which came back positive (driving under the influence), and was arrested.
A few hours after the accident, the police also arrested the driver’s 27-year-old wife. She was inside the vehicle and falsely claimed to authorities that she was driving at the time, attempting to cover for her husband. However, witness testimony refuted her claim.
