First half of 2026: 723 cases of burglary and theft were reported

The numbers have been on a downward trend in recent years

According to official police statistics, the number of reported thefts and burglaries reached 723 during the first half of 2026.

During the first half of 2026, a total of 449 burglary cases were reported, of which 302 were solved.

In Nicosia, 85 cases were reported and 63 were solved, while in Limassol, 162 were reported and 114 were solved.

In Larnaca, 87 cases were reported and 55 were solved, and in Paphos, 52 and 34, respectively.

In Famagusta, 46 cases were filed and 34 were solved, while in Morphou, 17 were filed and two were solved.

As for thefts, during the first half of 2026, a total of 274 cases were filed, of which 134 were solved.

In Nicosia, 68 theft cases were reported and 37 were solved, while in Limassol, 89 were reported and 50 were solved.

In Larnaca, 52 cases were filed and 14 were solved, and in Paphos, 37 and 21, respectively.

In Famagusta, 18 theft cases were reported and eight were solved, while in Morphou, 10 were reported and four were solved.

Compared to previous years, according to police data, 1,091 burglary cases were reported in 2023, of which 644 were solved.

In 2024, 966 burglary cases were reported and 605 were solved, while in 2025, 930 were reported and 609 were solved.

As for thefts, 583 cases were reported in 2023, of which 269 were solved.

In 2024, 632 theft cases were reported and 306 were solved, while in 2025, 579 were reported and 273 were solved.

Annual police data show a downward trend in burglary cases over the three-year period from 2023 to 2025. The number fell from 1,091 in 2023 to 966 in 2024 and to 930 in 2025, while 449 cases were reported in the first half of 2026.

With regard to thefts, the picture shows fluctuations. Reported cases totaled 583 in 2023, rose to 632 in 2024, and fell to 579 in 2025, while 274 cases were registered in the first half of 2026.
