A 90-year-old patient is the first victim of the West Nile virus in Cyprus in 2026, as the number of cases rises.
Specifically, the 90-year-old, who passed away on Thursday evening, suffered from underlying health conditions and had a particularly severe medical history.
The 90-year-old was among the seven confirmed cases of the virus, while three other cases are under investigation, with the majority of cases occurring in the Nicosia district.
According to reports, the four patients confirmed to have the West Nile virus are currently hospitalized, while preventive measures, including spraying, are being implemented.
