At 12:18 a.m., a call was received reporting a fire in an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system inside a server room, in the basement of a hotel in the Pegeia area, in the Paphos district.
The Paphos Fire Station responded with two fire trucks, and the fire was brought under control at 12:45 a.m.
The fire and heat caused damage to the system in question, part of the wiring, as well as equipment and part of the room’s paintwork.
Hotel staff members noticed the fire and attempted to extinguish it using a fire extinguisher before the Fire Department arrived.
Fire Department personnel proceeded to fully extinguish the fire and ventilate the area.
No one was endangered by the fire, and there was no need to evacuate guests or hotel staff. An investigation into the cause of the fire will follow, in cooperation with the relevant authorities.
