Police were alerted early this morning in Limassol, in the Zakaki area, where a family tragedy appears to have unfolded.

According to initial reports, a police officer allegedly pulled out a pistol and shot his wife before taking his own life.

The woman was taken from the scene by ambulance and transported to the hospital, where she is being treated on a ventilator in critical condition.

The scene has been cordoned off by a large police presence conducting an investigation, while it appears that the incident took place in the middle of the street early this morning in full view of neighbors.
