A significant development took place on Tuesday morning before the Limassol Criminal Court in the case of the murder of Stavros Demosthenous. The Prosecutor informed the Court that, following instructions from the Attorney General, criminal proceedings against three of the six defendants have been suspended.

The decision concerns defendants 1, 2, and 3. These are the 30-year-old man who was allegedly linked to the theft of the motorcycle, another 30-year-old who is being held at the Central Prison, and a 51-year-old who, until now, had been subject to strict restrictive conditions.

As for the first suspect, a 30-year-old man, the charge of stealing a Mitsubishi Colt was added to the indictment, which he immediately admitted to. As a result, he now faces charges only for that specific offense. For the other two, all 15 charges they were facing have been suspended. The 30-year-old will return to the Central Prison to continue serving his sentence related to another case, while the 51-year-old was released.

The case has been rescheduled for September 16. At the new hearing, the facts will be heard and a sentence will be imposed on the 30-year-old for the theft of the vehicle, while a new date will be set for the remaining three defendants who continue to face charges in the serious murder case of Stavros Demosthenous.
