The design of the “Red Flag,” which aims to enable the early identification of high-risk incidents and the immediate and coordinated response of the relevant agencies.
A statement from the Minister of Justice notes that during a new meeting on Monday, chaired by Minister Kostas Fytiris, the platform’s design was analyzed step by step, its structure, the information it will contain, how it will operate, and the capabilities it will provide to the relevant agencies.
During the meeting, practical issues regarding the implementation and operation of the system were examined, questions were raised, and views and suggestions were exchanged so that these could be taken into account in the further development of the platform.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, the Commissioner for Gender Equality, Anastasia Papadopoulou, former President of “Foni,” representatives of women’s organizations and unions, representatives of NGOs, as well as representatives of the Police, the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth, the Office of the Commissioner for the Protection of Personal Data, and the Social Welfare Services.
The goal is to finalize the design and necessary procedures so that the platform can become operational in early 2027.
“Red Flag” is designed as a tool for prevention and early intervention, through which the relevant agencies will be able to promptly assess information and indicators that may be linked to an increased risk of violence and take coordinated action before an incident.
