There was a strong police presence and activity last night throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and enhancing the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive police operations, eight individuals were arrested for various offenses, including illegal possession of drugs, illegal residence, burglary, and theft.
As part of these operations, 545 vehicles were stopped for inspection overnight, and 756 individuals traveling in them were checked. At the same time, 35 property inspections were conducted to address illegal activities, resulting in one complaint.
During the traffic checks that were carried out, 266 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and 15 cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Of the citations issued, 82 were for speeding, and as part of police investigations, 19 vehicles were impounded.
A total of 147 breathalyzer tests were conducted, resulting in 5 citations, as well as 3 preliminary drug tests, all of which came back negative.
Law enforcement operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, with an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
