Outrage in the occupied territories: A man attempted to sexually assault a minor girl on a beach

Tighter measures by the "authorities" following the incident
ALPHANEWSLIVE

Following the uproar in the occupied territories over the attempted sexual assault on a young girl on a beach in occupied Kyrenia, the city’s “mayor,” Murat Sengül, announced that security measures have been stepped up and patrols by the “municipal” police, and a study has already begun on permanent security measures for the beaches next year.

Yesterday, Turkish Cypriot websites posted a video showing the moment a man attempted to sexually assault the girl during the day. Other beachgoers intervened immediately, arrested him, handed him over to the “municipal police,” who in turn handed him over to the “police,” who took him to “court” for detention.

Mr. Sengül, in a post today featured by the Turkish Cypriot media, added that these measures do not constitute a permanent solution. The real solution, he added, lies in the complete restructuring of “state authority,” stating that it is essential to know the whereabouts and activities of individuals who come to the occupied territories for work or vacation during their stay.

No one should remain illegally in the pseudo-state, he continued, noting that approximately 10,000 people benefited from the recent immigration amnesty and that this number indicates that “at least 10,000 people were in the country illegally during the amnesty period.”

Mr. Sengül also noted that due to the growing and changing demographic structure, the number of criminal incidents may be higher than in the past, and politicians should not expect the current situation to resolve itself, citing examples from other countries.

Cyprus is a small island, he continued, and if the “political leadership” takes the necessary measures, it can once again become one of the safest and most peaceful places in the world. “This is our home; we must solve the problems here because we have nowhere else to go,” he concluded.
