There was a strong police presence and activity last night throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and enhancing the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive police operations, 19 individuals were arrested for various offenses, including illegal residence in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus, illegal possession of drugs, and driving under the influence of alcohol.
As part of these operations, 532 vehicles were stopped for inspection overnight, and 682 individuals traveling in them were checked. At the same time, 46 inspections were conducted at premises to address illegal activities, resulting in 3 complaints.
During the traffic checks that were carried out, 312 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and 21 cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Of the citations issued, 109 were for speeding, and 17 vehicles were impounded as part of police investigations.
A total of 87 breathalyzer tests were conducted, resulting in 5 citations, as well as 9 preliminary drug tests, with seven positive results.
Law enforcement operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, with an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
