There was a strong police presence and activity last night throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, to ensure public order, and to enhance the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive police operations, twelve individuals were arrested for various offenses, including illegal residence in the Republic of Cyprus, theft, drunkenness, causing a disturbance, and assaulting a police officer.
As part of these operations, 559 vehicles were stopped for inspection during the night, and 716 individuals traveling in them were checked. At the same time, 41 inspections were carried out at premises to address illegal activities, resulting in 3 complaints.
During the traffic checks that were carried out, 350 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and 11 cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Of the citations issued, 80 were for speeding, and as part of the police investigations, 10 vehicles were impounded.
A total of 157 breathalyzer tests were conducted, resulting in 3 citations, as well as one preliminary drug test with a positive result.
Law enforcement operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, featuring an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
