There was a strong police presence and activity throughout Cyprus last night, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, to ensure public order, and to increase the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive police operations, 14 individuals were arrested for various offenses, including illegal residence, unlawful possession of property, driving under the influence of alcohol, and unlawful assembly.
As part of these operations, 545 vehicles were stopped for inspection during the night, and 680 individuals traveling in them were checked. At the same time, 42 inspections were conducted at premises to address violations, resulting in 1 complaint.
During the traffic checks that were carried out, 365 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and 21 cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Of the citations issued, 155 were for speeding, and 13 vehicles were impounded as part of police investigations.
A total of 254 breathalyzer tests were conducted, resulting in 3 citations, as well as 5 preliminary drug tests, one of which was positive.
Law enforcement operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, with an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
