Plasmapheresis machines were found at two medical centers in Larnaca; rapid developments

The Ministry of Health filed a complaint with the police

The police received a letter today dated September 14, 2026, from the Department of Medical Services, which refers to two medical centers where hemodialysis machines were found.

Upon receipt of the letter, instructions were issued to the Larnaca CID to investigate, in cooperation with the Department of Medical Services, whether the operation of these machines violates the relevant legislation.

It should be noted that earlier, the Senior Official of the Ministry of Health, Karolina Stylianou, had spoken on the “Alpha Kalimera” program, stating that the Ministry of Health had filed a third complaint with the police against a medical center advertising plasmapheresis treatment.

As she noted, this was preceded by an on-site inspection by Ministry inspectors at the center in question last Friday; a report was compiled, and yesterday, Monday, the Ministry filed a third complaint with the authorities.

According to Ms. Stylianou, following yesterday’s new complaint, the Ministry of Health requested in writing that the center in question suspend its operations until the matter is investigated.

Regarding the Ministry’s two previous complaints against this specific Center—which were not pursued—Ms. Stylianou said that what the law enforcement authorities told them was that “there was insufficient evidence to build a criminal case.” “We believe there is sufficient evidence, and that is why we have raised the issue again,” said Ms. Stylianou.
